MONDAY SENDS: EPIC CANYONING ENERGY IN MADEIRA, PORTUGAL

Monday sends. Send it here

Inbox? Later. Madeira waterfall? Now. This reel is pure send-it energy — the kind of Monday that starts with a harness, a helmet and a canyon that doesn’t care what day of the week it is. Welcome to canyoning in Madeira, Portugal: wet, wild and properly EPIC.

What is canyoning — and why does Madeira slap so hard?

Canyoning (aka canyoneering or barranquismo) means following a mountain stream down through a gorge. You walk, slide, swim, jump (optional) and abseil (rappel) beside waterfalls. On Madeira Island that playground is volcanic rock, green valleys and pools so clear you’ll want a second look. Some days the canyon feels playful. Some days the water is loud and the rope feels like a superpower. Either way, youre not doom-scrolling youre in it. 💦

That’s why Madeira shows up again and again when people ask about adventure travel in Portugal. Mild climate, year-round routes, and guides who know when to push and when to keep it chill. No fake “#1 in the world” claims from us — just honest EPIC days on an island built for this sport.

Can beginners go canyoning in Madeira on a Monday (or any day)?

Absolutely. Our beginner canyoning tours are made for first-timers — ages 8+, no previous rope experience required. We provide the wetsuit, helmet, harness, canyoning shoes and ropes, plus a clear safety briefing before you start. Inside the canyon youll usually get about 2h–2h30 of action: rappels, slides, swims and optional jumps. Your guide chooses the canyon for the weather, water level and your group.

Already comfortable on rope and hungry for more spice? Intermediate canyoning (ages 12+) turns the dial up. Same EPIC crew, bigger energy. And if you’re craving ocean cliffs and Atlantic spray instead of (or as well as) a river canyon, coasteering is another way to send it — also from ages 8+.

What should you bring to “send it” in Madeira?

  • Swimwear under the wetsuit 🩱
  • A towel and dry clothes for after
  • Water and a snack
  • Good vibes and a “let’s go” mindset 💪

That’s it. We handle the technical kit, the safety and (yes) the photos and videos — so you can focus on the next abseil instead of your phone angle. 😎
