COASTEERING

2:00–2:30 hours (On activity)
This activity is suitable for ages 8+ and all fitness levels. It takes place in the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean that surround the island, encompassing movement along the intertidal zone on one of the most beautiful rocky coastlines of Madeira Island, several techniques are used to overcome the tour whether on foot, swimming, jumping, climbing it’s all on you, no boats, surfboards or other craft.
All this is made on a very special nature reserve in Madeira’s Natural Park. If this isn’t enough for you yet, we have plenty more.
As the activity is developed in crystal clear waters snorkelling is included as well. 🙂

How long does it take?

About 5 hours total. Time on the activity is 2:00–2:30 hours, depending on the group and sea conditions. The rest covers pickup or meet-up, gear, briefing, and changing back.

What age is this for?

Ages 8+. Suitable for most ages and levels, including families and first-timers.

Do I need to be fit or a strong swimmer?

No high fitness level is required. You move along the coast on foot, swimming, climbing, and optionally jumping — no boats. Being comfortable in water helps. If you cannot swim, tell us in advance; a lifejacket is provided and guides support you.

What is included?

Certified gear (wetsuit, shoes, neoprene socks, helmet, lifejacket, snorkeling gear), safety insurance, permits, specialized guides, energy bar and water, and free photos. Snorkeling is included.

Pickup or meet at the activity point?

Transfer from/to hotel in Funchal or Caniço is included. Other areas on request (extra may apply). What should I bring?

Your swimsuit already on, a towel and spare underwear.

Are jumps mandatory?

Jumps are a common part of coasteering, but we adapt to your comfort level. Tell the guides at the briefing if you prefer fewer jumps and more swimming, scrambling, and snorkeling.
