Canyoning (aka canyoneering, barranquismo or torrentismo) means following a mountain stream down a canyon: you walk, slide, swim, jump and rappel (abseil) right beside the waterfalls. In Madeira you do it inside the UNESCO-listed Laurisilva laurel forest, on volcanic rock, with crystal-clear pools at the bottom of the drops. Pure Madeira nature, up close. 😍
Do I need experience to go canyoning in Madeira?
Nope! 🙌 Our beginner canyoning tours are made for first-timers. Certified guides teach you everything on the spot, and we bring all the gear: wetsuit, helmet, harness, canyoning shoes and ropes. Jumps are optional, and your guide picks the canyon for the weather, water level and your group.
