OUR CANYONING DOCUMENTARY ON RTP MADEIRA

Twenty-five minutes. Three canyons. Laurissilva walls, cold spray, and the sound of water that never stops. This is the documentary we made with RTP Madeira — the first full production about canyoning in Portugal, filmed here on Madeira Island. 🌊

What is this documentary about?

It’s Madeira from the inside of the canyon: the origin of the sport here (~20 years of visitors finding a hidden sanctuary), three routes that show what you can really find in these riverbeds, safety and rope work, and the feeling of walking through forest so green it almost doesn’t look real. The film closes after those three paths — and leaves you wanting the next one.

We published it on our YouTube channel on 15 January 2020 (~25 min 30 s, in Portuguese). Watch it above, or open it here 👉 Documentary about Canyoning in Madeira Island.

Did it air on RTP?

Yes — that’s the story we told when we published the film: a collaboration between EPIC Madeira and RTP Madeira, with a piece on the RTP1 news and a full broadcast. Public RTP Arquivos still holds the short news item Canyoning na Madeira (RTP1, 6 July 2017, journalist Paulo Jardim), with statements from Francisco Pereira / Epic Madeira Canyoning. That news clip matches the “featured on the news” part of the story.

The full-length documentary itself lives on our YouTube (and we also shared an English-subtitled cut on Facebook). If you want the archive news page: RTP Arquivos — Canyoning na Madeira.
